Mike Daisey skrev sin første monolog i 1997, og har siden skrevet mer enn femten monologstykker. New York Times har kalt ham en «master storyteller» og «one of the finest solo performers of his generation». Tekstene hans har blitt framført på fem kontinenter, fra Off-Broadway New York via Sydney Opera House til et forlatt teater i Tajikistan.
